Casi al final de esta temporada, Colón logró la clasificación a las siguientes rondas de Copa Argentina y Sudamericana. En dichas competencias al Sabalero le fue muy bien, pero en el torneo local hace varios meses que no encuentra un equilibrio.
En Superliga y Copa Superliga, Colón tuvo actuaciones muy pobres, con pobres rendimientos de los jugadores titulares y hasta se criticó la tarea de la dirigencia. Mientras tanto llovían los directores técnicos en barrio Centenario. En los últimos meses pasaron cinco: Eduardo Domínguez, Esteban Fuertes, Julio Comesaña, Marcelo Goux y Pablo Lavallén, quien se encuentra trabajando actualmente.
Atendiendo a esta llamativa situación, en el programa La Primera de Radio Sol 91.5 se comenzó a analizar el pasado y presente del Sabalero. El panelista que tomó la palabra fue Nery Pumpido, ex arquero y técnico de Unión, pero también campeón del mundo en México 1986.
“Hay que copiar lo que hicieron Defensa y Justicia y Atlético Tucumán. Hay que pelear por cosas importantes, no pueden quedar los equipos de la ciudad como quedaron este año, pero hay algo que pasa por la comodidad, cuando te acomodás, perdiste…”, manifestó.
Tras expresar esto, Pumpido pasó a contar una polémica conversación entre Julio Comesaña y Eduardo Domínguez. Ambos técnicos se volvieron a ver en Paysandú, cuando Colón enfrentó a Nacional de Uruguay en un amistoso de pretemporada. “Vamos a ser sinceros, ¿no hubo una anécdota de cuando se lo encontró a Domínguez le dijo ‘¿cómo aguantaste dos años acá?’ Es para que les sirva a los de Colón”, reveló Nery Pumpido.
“Por eso hay que tener autocrítica y aprender, muchos se creen que saben y no saben ni el 5% de lo que es hoy en día el fútbol, cómo tratarlos a los jugadores, cómo manejarlos, qué piensan, qué no piensan, dónde se resguardan. Si total clasificamos, ya está, me importa tres huevos lo demás, y lo dicen así porque lo piensan así. No quieren jugar los clásicos, jugadores, cuerpos técnicos y dirigentes, vamos a decir la verdad de una vez por todas”, finalizó el ex arquero.
