El tenista argentino Diego Schwartzman, lejos de su mejor versión, quedó eliminado del Masters 1000 de Madrid, al perder hoy en la segunda ronda con el francés Jeremy Chardy por un categórico 6-1 y 6-2 en menos de una hora de juego.
El “Peque” Schwartzman, ubicado en el puesto 25 del ranking mundial de la ATP, había superado ayer en la ronda inicial al italiano Marco Cecchinato (19), pero no mantuvo ese nivel ante Chardy (47) y fue eliminado sin atenuantes, ya que lució incómodo y errático en los 58 minutos que duró el partido.
El tenista surgido del Club Náutico Hacoaj no obtuvo buenos resultados en la gira europea sobre polvo de ladrillo, ya que también había perdido en la segunda ronda en Montecarlo, Barcelona y Munich.
En otros resultados de la jornada, el japonés Kei Nishikori (7) le ganó al boliviano Hugo Dellien (109) por 7-5 y 7-5, mientras que el estadounidense Frances Tiafoe (37) superó al alemán Philip Kohlschreiber (50) por 6-4, 3-6 y 6-3.
El Masters 1000 de Madrid repartirá premios por 7.279.270 euros, tiene como máximo favorito al serbio Novak Djokovic (1) y el campeón defensor es el alemán Alex Zverev (4).
El único argentino que alzó el trofeo en Madrid fue el cordobés de Unquillo David Nalbandian en la edición de 2007.
