Las mujeres conductoras de la provincia vienen luchando hace varios años por un cupo igualitario en UTA. En la ciudad de Rosario las manifestaciones se vuelven cada vez más intensas, y ahora hicieron una presentación judicial por discriminación de género a las empresas y le respondieron a la UTA: “Cornejo se quedó en el tiempo”.

“Tenemos todas las expectativas de que la Justicia va a fallar a favor de las mujeres y del derecho al trabajo”, dijo María Etelvina, una de las representantes de la lucha femenina.

Ese año, se dictó una ordenanza en el Concejo Municipal de la ciudad del sur santafesino para que las empresas del Transporte Urbano de Pasajeros sean “cubiertas en forma igualitaria entre varones y mujeres”.

Como nunca se cumplió, las mujeres –que las contrataron por cortos períodos pero no lograron la estabilidad laboral– se organizaron y presentaron un recurso de amparo exigiendo que les den el lugar que dicta la norma y recién esta semana la Justicia dio lugar a una presentación formal.

En la búsqueda de una respuesta, fue el máximo referente de la UTA en Rosario, Manuel Cornejo, quien se convirtió en noticia nacional por sus vetustas declaraciones: “El cuerpo de la mujer no está preparado”, dijo a los medios de esa localidad.

Por su parte, Etelvina calificó los dichos de “violentos y totalmente discriminatorios, pero queda claro cuáles son los motivos por los que hace 13 años que luchamos para que en el transporte urbano de Rosario haya mujeres conductoras”.

Asimismo dijo: “Este hombre se quedó en el tiempo y todavía piensa que las unidades son las 1114 que eran unas bestias indomables, parece que no vio las unidades que están en la calle que tienen el andar y el dominio de un auto común. Cualquier mujer está capacitada para realizar esa tarea”.

“Es un trabajo insalubre por el cual los trabajadores choferes se jubilan diez años antes. Pero la insalubridad se debe al nivel de estrés al que está expuesto durante tantas horas el conductor y no de la aptitud física para manejar”, sentenció Etelvina.

En la capital provincial, se trata de Susana Salas, que hace 20 años que presta servicios, hoy en la Línea 2.

Al mismo tiempo, fuentes de la UTA de la seccional local afirmaron que cuentan con cerca de 500 conductores afiliados y otros 1.500 más que trabajan en distintas áreas del transporte urbano. Sin embargo, apuntaron que hay muchos trabajadores que no están afiliados y la cifra de choferes podría ser mayor. Sin embargo sostuvieron que hay solo una mujer en toda la ciudad.
