Se jugaba el torneo Nacional del año 1976 donde el Globo y el Tatengue se enfrentaron.  Saldaño ya había sido vendido a Huracán convirtiéndose en uno de los pases más caros de la historia de Colón. En aquel partido el ex delantero sabalero le marcó dos goles al Tate. “Cuando jugaba para Huracán le hice dos goles a Union. Para sentirme mejor, abajo de la del Globo tenía la camiseta de Colón”, confesó en una entrevista.
