Los Palmeras viven un momento idílico, pero nadie podrá decir que no remaron incansablemente para llegar a donde están hoy. La penetración de su música en el país entero es fruto de un trabajo incansable y de no bajar los brazos, por eso ayer estuvieron en una de las radios más conocidas de Capital Federal donde, hasta hace un tiempo atrás sólo pasaban música en inglés, Radio Metro. Y la respuesta de los oyentes no podría haber sido mejor.

Cacho Deicas y Marcos Camino hablaron de todo. Pero sorprendieron al conductor, Andy Kusnetzoff, cuando le revelaron lo que costó salir de Santa Fe: “Nos discriminaban por negros”, sentenciaron. Y luego explicaron: “Era muy discriminada nuestra música, de negros. No tenía penetración en las grandes urbes. Pero, por la fuerza, entró igual”.

Los Palmeras revelaron la felicidad que les genera la penetración que han logrado sus canciones: “Una alegría inmensa que llegue nuestra música al fútbol, al boxeo, al automovilismo. La escucha Messi y Maradona. Da alegría la cumbia santafesina. Esto nació allá, con un estilo propio”, contaron.

Pero no siempre fue fácil. Cacho reveló que su familia descreía de lo que podía hacer con la música: “Mi familia me decía vos sos un loco, anda a agarrar la pala. Pero hay que trabajar mucho para eso y no bajar los brazos”.

Hoy, 47 años después, el país baila su música. El 1 de julio tocarán por primera vez en el Luna Park. Lograron revertir los prejuicios, instalarse en el país y ser un clásico de la música. “Deben ser los más populares de Argentina”, les regaló el elogio Andy Kusnetzoff. Costó, pero hoy disfrutan las mieles del éxito.
